MAEYEN BASSEY MINI BIO

Maeyen Bassey is an Emmy Nominated filmmaker who directs, produces, and writes documentary, narrative, and branded films.

Maeyen cut her teeth in film working on feature releases for almost every major studio. Following her studio work, she landed a fellowship with The Writer's Guild of America and became a member of the writing team of a hit hour-long cable drama. Bassey then launched her own production company, where she EP'd, produced and directed celebrity driven music videos and spots for national brands including W Hotels, The Hard Rock Café, and New Balance sneakers among others.

In her documentary series and feature work, Maeyen is a Ford Foundation grantee, a Producers Guild of America Diversity Fellow, an Institute of International Education grantee, and a Women In Film Multi Hyphenate Fellow. She most recently lent her producing skills to the Emmy nominated doc series Why We Fight (ESPN+), which was Executive Produced by professional wrestler Ronda Rousey. 

In her recent narrative work Maeyen was hand picked to be one of 12 filmmakers invited to direct an episode of the iconic MotionPoems - Season 9. The Project was sponsored by the Rockefeller foundation with a theatrical premiere sponsored by Gersh Agency.

Maeyen's current projects include being a Senior Creative Producer for MasterClass.com, being the director and producer of the series premiere episode of The Price of Greatness which reveals the untold story of the Olympic Gold Medalist sprinter, World Champion, and former fastest man in the world, Maurice Greene. Bassey is also director and producer of the feature doc, 419 which explores the negative global reputation behind the country of her heritage, Nigeria. A native of Atlanta, GA. Bassey has multiple feature length, and series projects in development. She has filmed in numerous global cities across three continents, and is based in Los Angeles, CA.
